“Galaxy” (Original Poem)
My poem is titled galaxy, which is my letter to the world, in terms of existence and connection, science and emotion, with every sentence of this poem, matching scientifically from the small scale of a single cell going up to the scale of the infinite cosmos. This poem helped me explore the profound connection between individual existence and the cosmic expanse, questioning our essence in alternate realities and an interconnection between the microcosm and the macrocosm. The reference to Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman in space on the Vostok in 1963, underscores the vast distance separating us from the pursuit of harmony, especially the cosmic journey of what it still means to be a female artist in today’s society.
If atoms of burning cells painted in resolution
Would the molecules of your fiction exist the same?
Through the cellular planes of our twinned ambition
Will the atrium of emotionality become more than a game?
Spliced through the stars of nature and nurture
Pixels completed of our inner solar flame
Yet beyond the grasp of Valentina Tereshkova
Perfect harmony always seem lightyears away
Within your galaxy of hidden knowledge
Through milky ways of a hands' shaped kind
The rather singularity of a complex universe
Drawing parallels of our hopeful atomic minds
